Kurt started running in high school in 1988 at Armstrong High School. With the help of his hall-of-fame coach Rick Kleyman, it was there that he developed his love and passion for the sport. Coach Kleyman brought a passion for being a life-long runner to his athletes. Little did Kurt know that working in the running world would become his lifelong job. He has run over 20 marathons and 40+ ultra marathons. He loves running and what it can be to each of us as individuals. He has worked in specialty running stores for 16 years and looks forward to doing this the rest of his life. Running is a huge part of his life and he looks forward to helping you with all facets of running!

Karen grew up in St. Cloud where she attended St. Cloud Cathedral High School. During her time at CHS she ran cross country and track and field, finishing as a six-time letterman, with 1st and 3rd place state tournament finishes in the 4x100m relay. After competing a year of track and field at Gustavus Adolphus College, Karen transferred to the College of Saint Benedict where she majored in biology and worked as an assistant cross country coach at St. Cloud Cathedral. Since college, Karen has extended her running distances from 100 meters to marathons and beyond. I was born and raised in Delavan, WI. I graduated from Delavan-Darien High School, where I was an 11-time letterwinner in cross country, basketball, and soccer. In December of 2010, I graduated from St. Norbert College with a degree in Business Administration. I made the basketball team there my freshman year, rode the bench, and started running again, mostly out of frustration. I was frequently seen by the track coach, who eventually convinced me to join the team, and from there truly recognized how much I love to run and love being around others who do, too! I went on to run 4 years of both track and cross country for the Green Knights, where I was a 9-time All-American. My proudest accomplishment is, as a senior captain, helping lead my team to a Midwest Conference title in cross country, at which point we also become nationally ranked for the first time in school history.
I moved to Minneapolis seeking a better fit/change after running for the Hansons-Brooks Distance Project for a year and a half. I walked in to TC Running Company prior to moving here to check it out and immediately felt welcome. Lucky for me, they were looking for a full-time female staff member! I am already enjoying the great running community, as well as loving the wonderful, scenic places to run around the Twin Cities area! I look forward to continuing to compete at a high level, likely tackling the marathon sometime in the not so distant future! When I’m not running, I love to write/blog, hang out with my family (2 very supportive parents, an older and younger brother, and 2 awesome Australian Shepherd pups!) and friends, and help people of all ages grow to love running (nearly) as much as I do! I am both fortunate and proud to be a part of the great staff here at TC Running Company!
